La’s Fight To Combat Obesity – Cultural Restaurants Take Aim
Los Angeles, CA (ContentDesk) September 30, 2005 -- With more than 40% of school children in some L.A. communities overweight, the governor of California has signed a bill to ban sodas and some vending machine items from public schools across the state; cultural are also lending a helping hand. On October 11, 2005 from 11am to 1pm at the brand new, state-of-the-art Kitchen Academy in Hollywood, diverse L.A. based cultural and chefs are uniting to offer samples and nutritional tips from their culture on how to combat obesity.Spunka, Inc, L.A.'S most innovative Special Events Company invites your taste buds to this delicious teaser as we announce a unique culinary experience: The 2006 Cultural Dining Tour of Los Angeles. The Cultural Dining Tour is not a typical charity event, food fair or restaurant week.

February 2006 will mark the first time in L.A. where over 100 cultural will not only share their food to our communities, but also showcase their heritage through various educational and/or entertaining events at their restaurants.Partial proceeds from the 2006 Cultural Dining Tour will benefit two featured charities: the Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger & Homelessness (LACEHH) and Community Outreach for Prevention & Education (COPE). Representatives from the event's advisory board will also be in attendance at the October 11th press event; members include the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, the Los Angeles Conventions & Visitors Bureau, the Los Angeles Downtown Center Business Improvement District

and Beacon Management. Folks, this will not be your average press conference. It is an interactive lunch party where attendees will be able to learn how global cuisines are challenging obesity trends and sample some healthy cultural foods brought in by participating around Los Angeles such as Chaba Thai Bay Grill, Kabab Curry of India and Rita Flora Kitchen.
